The Education Programme at Ffotogallery supports and enriches further education through a variety of events designed to extend knowledge and understanding of Ffotogallery exhibitions of historic, modern and contemporary photographic art and to bring photography into the lives of our visitors. Through encouraging students and tutors to engage with the different types of artwork on display, we wish to promote confidence in being in the gallery environment and self-confidence in personal interpretations of art.

Sessions at Ffotogalley focus on modern and contemporary visual art from 1900 to the present day, drawing on both British and international works. They emphasise the creative acquisition of skills, strategies for looking at art, and the possibility of many meanings in a single artwork. This method relates visual art to broader cultural concerns and challenges traditional ways of interpreting or creating art. These programmes are of particular value to tutors who wish to place their work within the expanded field of modern and contemporary visual art practice.

The College Programme ranges from free gallery sessions for students, to more involved study opportunities including professional development. If you require further information or are interested in organising an event or workshop, please contact the education team at Turner House on 029 2070 8870 or email turnerhouse [at] ffotogallery.org
