In late 1999, the Artistic Records Committee of the Imperial War Museum commissioned Graham Fagen to undertake some research into the inter-communal conflict between the Serbs and Kosovan Albanians.

Paul Seawright was commissioned by the Imperial War Museum to visit Afghanistan during 2002 after much of the devastation had been unleashed on the country.
