Janire Najera, from The Black Hole, 2013

Thurs 31 July – Sat 23 August

Janire Najera’s work documents the last days of The Black Hole, a military surplus store in northern New Mexico. For over 40 years its owner Ed Grothus, known as Atomic Ed, salvaged vast amounts of equipment and ephemera from the Los Alamos National Laboratory, turning a former grocery store into a mecca for technological obsolescence. Presenting a selection of the remaining relics and artefacts, these photographs reveal a curiously unique history of nuclear America.
