Reception – Peter Bobby
Reception is the first major monograph by artist emerging Peter Bobby who studied MA Fine Art at University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Lavishly produced, abundantly illustrated with ultra-violet gloss sealed images, Reception collates works made over the last five years. Always devoid of human presence, Peter Bobby photographs the interiors of recently completed corporate buildings. Every surface shines and every object is placed with precision. The glossy photographs appear initially seductive, yet as we are drawn closer, we become aware of an environment which is alien, stark and unpopulated. Through his technique of photographing, and the absence of human presence, Bobby’s work cleverly blurs the distinction between art, architecture and corporate image-making.
Artist and writer Paul Jeff introduces the work with an essay which cites Bobby’s work within the pictorial dimensions of space and the passage of time.
