Ffotogallery's next FORUM will now be held on Thursday 25th March, as originally planned!
FORUM is an informal, monthly event aiming to develop a core group of emerging artists in South Wales together with students and graduates from visual media courses. It is a platform for practitioners from various disciplines to exchange ideas, experience and opinions.
The presentations will also trigger discussion on issues appearing in their work within the context of contemporary arts practice.
Refreshments will be available throughout the evening. There are no booking requirements however, should you have any special requirements or questions then please call (029) 2070 8870 or email turnerhouse@ffotogallery.org

Book Arts Fayre is back Saturday 17th April 2010! Get your stall submissions or performance ideas in as we're in full planning swing, this Fayre's theme is COLLABORATION!
Book Arts Fayre celebrates the ‘artists book’ in all its forms, from hand printed zines to hardback monographs, giving everyone from artists to students, graduates and families the chance to explore and engage in self-publishing and a wealth of contemporary book arts practice from Wales and beyond.

- Representations of Conflict, Commemoration and Peace' by Professor Paul Gough, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of the West of England.
On Thursday 18th of February 2010 at 7.00pm, artist, writer and broadcaster Paul Gough will speak about the aesthetics of conflict, landscapes of dereliction and iconography of commemoration; responding to the works in The Silent Village exhibition.
Paul Gough holds a doctorate on First World War Art from the Royal College of Art. Familiar as a presenter of television and radio arts programmes, Gough has also acted as associate producer/presenter of a number of important documentaries including Redundant Warrier: a profile of Don McCullin.

You are warmly invited to Turner House on Wed 10th February from 6.30pm for an evening of talks, discussion and refreshments celebrating the launch of Ffotogallery’s new publication, The Silent Village.
The Silent Village exhibition and accompanying catalogue features new works from Peter Finnemore, Rachel Trezise and Paolo Ventura in response to the 1943 film, The Silent Village by Humphrey Jennings.

We are pleased to announce guest speaker Daryl Perrins (University of Glamorgan) will be talking about the film’s significance within the genre of Propaganda cinema in an informal lecture.
Daryl Perrins (b. Cardiff 1965) is a senior lecturer in film studies at the Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries University of Glamorgan where he leads undergraduate modules on Early Cinema, British Cinema, European Cinema, TV Genres and Cult Cinema. His research interests include British cult cinema, situation comedy and the working class and representations of South Walian industrial society on screen. He was a contributor to the book Wales on Screen Blandford ed. (2000) and has been a frequent delegate at the bi-annual International Conference on Welsh Studies (NAASWCH).

Switchboard is an exciting new online channel being launched by Ffotogallery and May You Live In Interesting Times, Festival of Creative Technology 2009, 22 - 24 October 2009. Switchboard will continue to run during Autumn 09, as part of Ffotogallery’s Vision On new media season.
Using freely available social networking platforms Switchboard will introduce audiences to a mixture of live and edited content, acting as the ears and the mouthpiece of the festival and showcasing its highlights.
As a central website, Switchboard will open up a dialogue between the physical festival and a global audience online. It will provide up to date audio and video reports, reviews and interviews as well as an exciting programme of specially programmed sound art, web based tutorials and interactive user generated content.
This award by the You May Fund is a Ffotogallery and MYLIIT commission made possible by Safle with the financial support of the Arts Council of Wales. The project has also received generous support from University of Wales Newport.

A dynamic light installation in the water surrounding Penarth Pier.
This visually stunning landscape intervention is the closing event to Ffotogallery’s Vision On season. It will highlight the ‘Save the Penarth Pavilion Campaign’ and celebrate the Pavilion's 80th Birthday.
Ffosfforescence is the first work from Bread - a new collaboration between Bristol based artists Ruth Essex and David Boultbee which aims to use light to articulate hidden spaces and shadows of familiar public landmarks.
The work will be built with the help of volunteers from the local community and experts from Dorkbot Bristol who will both assist in the construction of the work and transport the glowing orbs through the town to the pier.

Transform yourself with our costumes, props or your own materials. Then in Ffotogallery’s temporary portrait studio, you can control the lighting, effects and direct the taking of your own digital self-portrait.
Gallery_Shorts are our Saturday family drop-in sessions inviting you to take a closer look at our exhibitions and to make your very own artworks. The workshops are aimed at those aged 5-15 (and their carers) and they’re completely free!

Families can explore the gallery and in the company of Ffotogallery staff. Participating children and adults are invited to use our Family Resource Pack, which includes art materials, worksheets, and ideas for discussion and activities.
Explorer activities are free and booking is not required.
