Internship: Exhibition Assistant

Approx. 1-2 days per week (max 16 hours)
This post as an Exhibitions Assistant would be a great opportunity for someone who has some knowledge of or an interest in contemporary art, in particular photography and lens-based media, who wishes to experience working in a gallery or arts venue with exhibition production and/or installation, etc.
The post will be supported by the Exhibitions Manager and Project Co-ordinator to support Ffotogallery’s activity.
Tasks will include the following:
- Efficient day to day running of the gallery and its events and activities programme
- Overseeing building security & public access, ensuring at all times the safety and enjoyment of visitors, staff and volunteers
- Working with artists, the Director and Exhibitions Manager, to prepare the gallery and other temporary exhibition spaces and participate fully in exhibition installations and dismantling, ensuring the safe handling of equipment and the artworks on display
- To maintain the appearance of the gallery, its presentation and cleanliness
- Working with the Production and Co-ordinator to assist, as necessary with arrangements for exhibition previews and regular gallery events
- To support programme delivery at temporary exhibition spaces and other public exhibition venues and develop collaborative projects, where appropriate
- To explore new and innovative ways of promoting and extending the work of the gallery
- To update and maintain attendance figures and to generally monitor the audience and participant response to exhibition and gallery event programmes
- To attend and contribute to evening and weekend activities as required
