This month, we will be joined by Sophie Mak-Schram to talk about her practice and her work Palmstones which is currently on Llantarnam Grange’s Billboard Gallery.

We will get the 1:25pm train from Cardiff Central to Cwmbran if you would like to join us or you can make use of the free parking in Cwmbran and use the Glyndwr Car Park. 

Palmstones was created in conversation with Llantarnam Granges’ arts and health groups, about ideas of holding. From who and what we hold onto, to holding as a support structure, as a means of reassurance, or as a grasp, together, they looked at the roles objects play in strengthening, soothing, and connecting us.

Sophie is an artist who works with others to create place-specific work around power, collectivity, knowledges and futures. This work is informed by personal and shared experiences of cultural difference, coloniality, race and gender.
