Opportunity : Heritage Lottery Funded Commissions working with Ffotogallery’s archive.

We are inviting expressions of interest from LGBTQ+ identifying artists based in Wales for one available commission to create artworks in response to Ffotogallery’s archive and host a community workshop in response to Ffotogallery's archive. £2,500 will be awarded to the successful artist.

We are also inviting expressions of interest from disabled artists based in Wales for one available commission to create artworks in response to Ffotogallery’s archive. £2,000 will be awarded to the successful artist.

Commission Overview:

We are seeking to commission two artworks by two artists that are informed by the contents of Ffotogallery’s archive, and which build on the participative and community-focused aims of our heritage project. Proposals are sought from artists working with photographic and lens-based media.

Two commissions, one for £2,000 (artwork commission, for disabled artist)  and one for £2,500 (artwork and workshop commission for LGBTQ+ identifying artist) are available – inclusive of all exhibition fees and materials, and other expenses that may be required by the artist(s) in their delivery.

We have a further £200 available, per artist, allocated for travel expenses.

A collaborative approach is very important – the successful artist(s) will work closely with Ffotogallery’s Archive Project Officer alongside a commissioning circle of community representatives to develop their ideas and respond to the diverse materials, activity and outputs produced by this project. The artist will also be supported by the Director, and the wider team at Ffotogallery in the delivery of their work.

We would be open to expressions of interest from artists looking to collaborate with each other on the delivery of both commissions. Exhibition opportunity to be discussed.
