The Feminist Library is back! Ffotogallery launched the Feminist Library last October 2024 during Ffoto Cymru, our International Photography Festival and it was a great success. The Feminist Library is a space to listen, learn and discuss ideas.
We would like to thank the Paul Mellon Centre , whose generous funding has enabled us to continue these sessions.
These events are open to the public, free to attend and will be hosted monthly from July - December 2025.

For the third session of our Feminist Library series, Dr Durre Shahwar will lead an informal talk and workshop that will give participants an opportunity to explore how textual and visual autofictional methods can be used to establish a 'visual language' that can be used to portray counter narratives and storytelling.
About Dr Durre Shahwar:
Dr Durre Shahwar is a writer, researcher, and artist with a PhD in autofiction and Pakistani-Welsh identity from Cardiff University where she is an Associate Tutor. She was the recipient of a Future Wales Fellowship, researching climate justice through art, the visual outcome of which was exhibited at Glynn Vivian Art Gallery. Her film and visual work have also been exhibited and screened widely, including Chapter Arts, Migration Matters Festival, G39, The Turner House Gallery, Green Man Festival, Arts & Heritage. Durre’s work uses decolonised creative practices to amplify marginalised narratives. She is the co-editor of Gathering: Women of Colour on Nature (404 Ink). In 2022, Durre was highly commended for the Morley Lit Prize.
