All change at Ffotogallery

If you’ve visited our latest exhibition Ffocws 2024 at Ffotogallery this month, you may have noticed that we have made some major structural changes to the layout of the gallery during our last exhibition changeover. Due to a capital funding grant from Arts Council of Wales, we have been working on making much of our resources more accessible to the public, including our Archive and Library, also increasing the available space we have to share work with others… namely the creation of a new project space launching in July 2025 with How You Dey?

We want our gallery space to work for you, our wonderful visitors and we believe having the library in a more accessible and visible location will be beneficial to you when visiting us.

The Library still remains a reference only library, but now it’ll be easier than ever to access our wonderful range of photography books on your next visit!

Our Archive is also having a whole new revamp. Again, we’re trying to improve the spaces that are being used by our visitors and we think re-organising and relocating the collection is a much needed improvement!

None of this would have been possible without the help and hard work of Siobain from Carpentress Cymraeg - alongside the talented Mia Roberts, Camille Relet and Megan Evans - who took part in our shadowing technician programme (now closed) for women and non binary artists, supporting the remodel of the gallery. This is an opportunity we would love to offer again - look out for similar opportunities in future.

A huge thank you also to Kimberley Harris from Gaunt Francis Architects in Cardiff for all her help, guidance and vision in the realisation of this gallery remodel without which, none of this would have happened.

We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon and hearing your feedback on the new layout.

Whilst the Library is now accessible during gallery opening hours (Wednesday - Saturday, 12pm - 5pm) the Archive is accessible by appointment Wednesday - Friday, 12pm - 4pm.
