About Ffoto Cymru 2026 - International Photography Festival:
There’s More to Life is the 2026 edition of FFOTO CYMRU biennale International Festival of Photography which will take place at venues across Wales in October 2026. The festival theme ‘There’s More to Life’ invites us to question the systems that often shape how we see the world. These include dominant Western viewpoints and structures rooted in capitalism, ableism and patriarchy. By challenging these frameworks, we want to make space for other forms of knowledge and experience, including matriarchal traditions, spiritual perspectives and different ways of understanding the world.
The Festival Coordinator will:
Complete operational duties which will include supporting the organisation and delivery of the Festival.
Create and maintain detailed operations sheets and records for all events
Organise and schedule spaces for Festival exhibitions, workshops, talks and related events.
Oversee the artists, directing and managing them for the Festival - ensure work is prepared and transported to the correct venue, at the correct date.
Serve as the primary contact for Artist liaison, managing schedules in collaboration with the Director and wider team.
Coordinate schedules of each exhibition, and associated events during the run up to the Festival
Coordinate artists
Coordinate venues
Draft licensing/artist contracts
Ensure the artist works arrive safely and on time at appropriate times at each venue
Organise artist accommodation and travel needs, if required
Work with the Volunteers Coordinator to organise volunteers for each event, if needed
Create and distribute exhibition and event schedules
Work with other on-site staff on projects as needed
Assist Ffotogallery staff with administrative tasks throughout the Festival, including the gathering of audience data
Organise and liaise with potential sponsors for each exhibition, e.g. source local sponsorship for Exhibition Preview events
Other duties as assigned/required
The Festival Coordinator will report to Ffotogallery’s Director, and work with the Ffotogallery team and the volunteers to ensure smooth running of the festival operations.
Skills/Qualifications:
Ffotogallery is seeking an experienced operations/project manager, a knowledge in photography would be preferred but is not essential for this role.
Essential
Project planning and time management skills
Admin/events experience
Organised and motivated - able to prioritise work and forward plan
IT skills, including web-platforms such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Squarespace, database management, Microsoft Office packages and social media platforms
Experience managing others
Detail oriented with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to delegate tasks as needed
Experience in dealing with queries from professional partners and public
Driving license and access to own vehicle
Desirable
An interest in photography and the arts
Ability to speak Welsh
Proficiency in another language other than Welsh and English
Knowledge of the creative sector in Wales
This position is mainly located in Cardiff and South Wales, with potential to travel across Wales for exhibition preparation at other sites. The role offers flexible working options and a mix of office/home working.
