Exhibition Preview: Thursday 3 October, 6 - 8pm

Darnau | Fragments is a major solo survey exhibition of the work of Marian Delyth, celebrating the launch of the 2024 Ffoto Cymru festival this October. Darnau | Fragments highlights Delyth’s photographic journey over the past 50 years, documenting the life and culture of Wales with unparalleled dedication.

An esteemed photographer and graphic designer, Delyth has tirelessly documented and celebrated activism, social justice, and peace campaigns throughout Wales. Her work, rooted in the documentary tradition, transcends observation, communicating powerful narratives of change and resilience in advocating for language, social justice, land, and equality.

Darnau | Fragments offers an intimate look at Delyth’s practice, showcasing her radical and consistent curiosity; through portraits, landscapes, introspective and reportage from the 1970’s to 2024 solidifying her position as one of Wales' most influential artists while celebrating her significant contributions to the artistic and visual identity of Wales.

Marian Delyth said, “Revisiting the images of fifty years is opening new exciting possibilities of ways of working with an archive. In this exhibition I find that I am merely scratching the surface of it all. As I searched files, folders and boxes in every room of the house it appeared at times as if I was working on an archaeological dig gathering fragments of a lifetime of chasing the light - documenting events, experiences, emotions - the essence of life here in Wales and beyond.”
