In Between Edges, brings together Aisling Edwards’ Mark Time, Epynt 85 Mlyned and Dafna Talmor’s Constructed Landscapes to ask: what do photographs record of the land?
Through their unique and experimental approaches, they ask us to pay attention to in/visible processes, memory, and what lies on the other side of a boundary.
For Edwards, obtaining admission onto the land is only the first step. Epynt, an upland plateau in mid-Wales, is also the site of the Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA), owned by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). In 1940, the Welsh farming families who had been living across the 31,000 acres of land were given 3 weeks to leave. Public access is almost entirely prohibited due to live military training and firing, but Edwards has been given permission to roam unescorted. Over 15 months, she revisited the plateau, and the complexity of how land is perceived; militarily, ecologically, and politically, began to quietly emerge.
Talmor, on the other hand, begins with her own personal archive of landscape photographs, selecting negatives to create multiple new works. By slicing through the negatives to physically remove any recognisable human-made elements, the image becomes free to be considered on its own merit. The conventions of the picturesque landscape are unburdened to allow the viewer to consider the marks in the land not visible but present nonetheless.
In Between Edges refers to the geographical and critical spaces that both artists sit within, and their ability to conjure new meanings from inside and outside of the frame.
About the Artists

Aisling Edwards is a British Artist working across photography and sculpture exploring how landscapes are controlled, altered and remembered. After graduating with a First Class Honours in BA Photography from Falmouth University in 2021, she was mentored through Redeye Graduate Mentoring Scheme by Dr Yan Wang Preston.
Her recent major body of work, Mark Time | Epynt 85 Mlynedd developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence through access to Sennybridge Training Area, forming a long-term body of work examining military, ecology and managed landscapes. In October, Edwards will travel to Germany to attend the Adam Broomberg Photobook Masterclass through Werkstatt Institute, Berlin. The 8-month Materclass programme will see Mark Time's development into a Photobook Dummy, with an essay by writer, curator and photographer, Gerry Badger.
Edwards held a solo exhibition at Canwood Gallery and Sculpture Gardens in 2024. Her work has been presented at Milan International Photography Fair under Erik Kessels: Welcome to My Unknown Award, the Royal Society of Arts and The British Embassy in Rome. Her sculptural work is represented by First of March, a sculpture agency in Wales.
In December 2024, Edwards was commissioned by Monmouthshire County Council to discuss, "How Does Contemporary Public Sculpture Transform Our Landscape?". In February 2025, she was invited as a panelist to The Consul General of Ireland's: Women's Working in the Arts panel in Cardiff.

Dafna Talmor is a London-based artist and lecturer whose practice encompasses photography, sculpture, spatial interventions and collaborations.
Her work is included in public collections such as the National Trust, Victoria & Albert Museum, Deutsche Bank, Hiscox and publications such as The Women Who Changed Photography (2024), 100 Photographs: From the Collections of the National Trust (2024), Look at This If You Love Great Photography (2021), Post-Photography:The Artist with a Camera (2014), Architectural Review, The Guardian, FT Weekend Magazine, American Suburb X, 1000 Words, Elephant Magazine, Camera Austria and ArtReview.
Constructed Landscapes, her first monograph published by Fw:Books in 2020, was longlisted for the 2021 Kraszna-Krausz Photography Book Award. In 2026 Talmor was awarded a Sony World Photography Award in the Professional Landscape category.Recent exhibitions include Glossaries, a duo show with artist Hannah Hughes, Sid Motion Gallery (London), solo shows Sea of Stones, House of Arts – Veszprém, following the completion of the Balaton-Eye artist residency, Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture programme, Constructed Landscapes, Carmen Araujo Arte (Caracas) and group shows The Hunter of Thyself, Versus Art Project x Ka (Istanbul), Known & Strange: Photographs from the Collection, V&A Museum (London), Stories We Live With - Selection from the Somlói–Spengler Collection, QContemporary (Budapest) and Occupying Photography: To the Milky Way via the Sea, NŌUA (Bodø).
Talmor is the recipient of a Royal Photographic Society Honorary Fellowship and the featured artist in How Was it Made? The Chromogenic Process, a film by Zuketa Productions, commissioned by the V&A Museum.
