Public Installation — Gaunt Francis Architects

This work is part of a public installation presented in the windows of Gaunt Francis Architects. The exhibition is free to view from outside, so if you’re in the area, come and take a look!

Jamila Fadhlaoui is a fine art photographer originally from London but now living in Cardiff. Within her work she uses her neurodiversity as a means for exploring an abstract point of view in visual art. 

Jamila creates a dreamlike almost ethereal world within her imagery, from childhood she had always seen the world differently, and now leans into this highly saturated, surreal internal landscape to help craft her singular artistic vision. 

Artist Quote

"This is from an ongoing project that’s very personal to me named ‘Msitua’. 

‘Msitua’ is a photographic collection of self portraits visualising my autism, these images were photographed in 2023 during a difficult time where I was about to move to Cardiff with a big change in my routine/ what I am used to. I turned to this project to visualise my anxiety and fear. I find it hard to vocalise my feelings and so I felt visualising my emotions helped to see my autism and anxiety as they were."
