Presented as part of the 2026 Ffoto Cymru Festival, More to Life brings together four artists exploring work, family, history and play through photography and expanded photographic practices.

Heather Agyepong presents her recent commission, From Sunrise to Sunset, She Worked to Reform Herself, a multidisciplinary work inspired by Colson Whitehead’s The Nickel Boys and RaMell Ross’s 2024 film adaptation. The title references Elwood Curtis, a young African American boy whose belief that hard work and discipline will secure his freedom is ultimately shattered by systemic violence.

Jo Marsh’s current residency, Learning From The Land, deepens her exploration of playwork as a cultural and creative practice. Through her ethnographic research at The Land, a renowned junk playground in Plas Madoc, Wrexham, Jo investigates how playful, sustainable, and constituent-led practices can inform broader artistic responses to societal challenges.

Libita Sibungu works across early photographic processes, drawing and sound to uncover the hidden histories, energies and relationships that connect people to place. Combining fragments of real and imagined archives with voice, movement and material, her practice creates living systems that resist fixed histories and colonial ways of seeing.

Harley Weir’s work explores the realities of adulthood and her own journey through womanhood. Through works from The Garden and her ongoing Sickos series, she reflects on the shifting relationships between mother and daughter, parent and child, care and dependency, time and ageing, alongside the changing female body.

These four artists push contemporary photography in new and unexpected directions, exploring different ways of seeing and understanding the world. Their work asks questions about how we might step away from the pressure to always be productive (hustle culture); how we learn and unlearn to play; how ancestry, geology and histories of extraction are connected; and how conventional representations of womanhood and the female gaze might be challenged.
