Meet the Team - Liz Hewson
Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Liz, I'm 26 and I'm originally from Cheltenham. I moved to Newport to study BA Hons Photographic Art in 2011 and have lived in South Wales ever since. As well as my role at Ffotogallery, I am a practicing photographer and have been exhibiting internationally since 2015.
What is your role at Ffotogallery and what does this involve?
My job title is Production Co-ordinator - my role covers a wide range of different areas, including planning, promoting and delivering exhibitions, artist liaison, print and electronic communications, and I also facilitate our programme of accredited creative courses.
What inspired you to work in the arts?
I always enjoyed the more creative subjects at school, which led to studying a Foundation degree in Art & Design where I found my love for photography.
Have you got a favourite project or exhibition you’ve been involved with at Ffotogallery?
One of my favourite projects to work on was Zeitgeist, a global open call for submissions which we launched as part of Diffusion 2017. It resulted in a major exhibition at the Wales Millennium Centre during the festival, and we awarded a number of selected artists the opportunity to show a larger body of work in different venues around the city. It was a privilege to see lots of new work, and to work with such a variety of artists.
