Weekly Digest - 8/6/20
Welcome to the eleventh edition of Ffotogallery’s weekly digest! Whilst our offices and gallery are closed, we’re still busy working from home to bring you the latest updates, including creative activities you can take part in at home, resources you can browse online, and we’ll be sharing what arts organisations further afield have on offer.
Competition Time – Object
Congratulations to last week’s winner of our #home photo competition, Sally Nordan (@salnordanphoto)! Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to send in their entries.
This week’s theme – object - is inspired by photographer and artist Jon Pountney. The subject of Jon’s project for Many Voices, One Nation is the Welsh Youth Parliament, established in 2018 to provide young people a voice in Welsh politics. Jon photographed his subjects, along with an object they had each brought from home that held some significance to them. We’d like you to find and photograph an object within your home that means a lot to you.

How to enter:
Simply post your photo on Instagram, tag @ffotogallery, and use the hashtag #object. We’ll repost our favourites on our account, and the winning image will be featured in next week’s digest.
Don’t have Instagram? Don’t worry! You can email your photos to us on [email protected], just make sure you include the name of the person who took the photo.
Deadline for entries: Midnight on Sunday 14th June.

The Place I Call Home Reopens

The Indestructible Lee Miller
Join the Royal Photographic Society for this screening of ‘The Indestructible Lee Miller’, narrated by Antony Penrose and Ami Bouhassane. The film will be followed by a Q&A session.
Love in Quarantine
Love in Quarantine is an artistic and social initiative set up by ZAWB in Bilbao for the duration of quarantine. It uses its online platform to highlight the creative coming together of communities during lockdown, including photography, videos, dances, and other various occurrences.
Online Residencies
Whilst physical spaces remain closed for the foreseeable future, ArcadeCampfa are exhibiting artists’ work on their website for month-long online residencies.
Photo-Recipes
Streetlevel Photoworks in Glasgow has created a series of Photo-Recipe cards, with instructions on how you can you use everyday household products to create unique photographic prints. Check out the ‘news’ section of their website for more details.
