Weekly Digest - 13/4/20
Welcome to the third edition of Ffotogallery’s weekly digest! Whilst our offices and gallery are closed, we’re still busy working from home to bring you the latest updates, including creative activities you can take part in at home, resources you can browse online, and we’ll be sharing what arts organisations further afield have on offer.
Competition Time
Congratulations to last week’s winner of our #angles photo competition, Aled Davies! Thanks to everybody who entered – over the coming weeks, we’ll be setting up an online gallery of all of the entries we receive, so keep an eye out on our ‘Channel’ page.
We’re kicking off the week with a new theme – windowsill. Feeling inspired by Daniel Blaufuks’ book Attempting Exhaustion, in which he photographs the same window in his kitchen between 2009 and 2016, we’d like you to photograph your own windowsill still lives (and what better time to do it!) Think about the composition of objects, the time of day and how it effects the lighting. Thank you to Daniel for letting us reference his images, and take a look at his Instagram page to see some more examples. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
How to enter:
Simply post your photo on Instagram, tag @ffotogallery, and use the hashtag #windowsill. We’ll repost our favourites on our account, and the winning image will be featured in next week’s digest.
Don’t have Instagram? Don’t worry! You can email your photos to us on [email protected], just make sure you include the name of the person who took the photo.

Francesco Matteo Gallery has launched ‘Live Connection’ on Instagram, bringing together their artists in live conversation to connect and share ideas though their practice. The recorded conversations will also be available online following the live events. Check out their Instagram feed for more details.
Garage Digital
Garage Museum of Contemporary Art launched Garage Digital last year, a virtual platform that aims to bring together artists to explore new forms of visual culture that emerge from the contemporary dialogue between technology and society.
Sofa Sessions
Martin Parr Foundation’s series ‘Sofa Sessions: Conversations with Martin Parr’ is available to watch online. Martin Parr is joined by fellow photographers to discuss their practice, and the latest edition features Magnum photographer Alec Soth.
Iris Prize
Iris Prize are making three films available to watch online for free in April, May and June, in anticipation of this year’s festival in October. This month’s film, ‘Colonial Gods’, is already available to watch, to be followed by ‘Daisy & D in May’, and ‘Wild Geese’ in June.
