Many Voices One Nation 2

As we emerge from lockdown, Ffotogallery re-opens its doors with an exhibition that presents a more optimistic view of our nation’s future. We invited photography professionals from around Wales to nominate photographers, students and artists whose work offers insights into contemporary life, and represents the breadth of Welsh talent that deserves wider exposure. Twelve artists were selected from across Wales, reflecting a wide range of subjects and different approaches to photography. We anticipate that the exhibition will be opening at Ffotogallery in early November (public health guidance permitting), with precise dates to be announced soon.

We’re pleased to announce that the following artists have been selected for this second edition of Many Voices, One Nation:

Abby Poulson, Antonia Osuji, Cynthia Sitei, Ethan Beswick, Jack Osborne, Jo Haycock, John Manley, Kaz Alexander, Lucy Purrington, Matthew Eynon, Mohamed Hassan and Robert Law.

Treasurer Vacancy at Ffotogallery

We are looking for an individual who can help us deliver a new, long-term strategic vision for the organisation as we seek to develop a business model that restores the organisation to a resilient position, fulfils its potential and enables its free reserves to grow. Board members play an important role in ensuring good governance for the organisation, as well as being ambassadors for the work of the organisation and for photography in Wales.

September Featured Artist

For over 20 years Olivia Gay has been photographing women who work as waitresses, cashiers, prostitutes, nuns, factory workers, domestic workers; women living in refugee camps; women in prison. She takes her time, often seven years or more—allowing mutual respect, trust, and understanding to deepen. ‘A Woman’s Palace’ is a documentation of the women living in Le Palais de La Femme, a social housing residence in Paris accommodating women of all nationalities, single or unmarried mothers, sometimes formerly homeless, victims of violence or suffering from mental disorders. Olivia is one of the artists selected to contribute to the Creative Europe funded project A Woman’s Work.
